OFT clears Mean Fiddler takeover

Leisure Report, August, 2005

The Office of Fair Trading has decided not to refer the acquisition of Mean Fiddler by Clear Channel Entertainment to the Competitions Commission.

Mean Fiddler accepted the 37.9m [pounds sterling] takeover bid in April.

Clear Channel and Gaiety Investments will buy the company through Hasmard, their joint venture investment vehicle.

Hasmard said: "Following the acquisition, the Mean Fiddler group will continue to pursue a strategy of delivering world-class event promotion and event management both through its festivals and music businesses in the UK."
