'African' safari lodge opens in Kent theme park

Leisure Report, May, 2008

Europe's first overnight safari lodge has opened at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, in Kent, where visitors can enjoy an 'Out of Africa' experience with an overnight stay at Livingstone Safari Lodge which opens at the park on 30 April, until the end of October.

The venue offers ten luxury safari tents nestled on plinths set in a 100acre site adjacent to Port Lympne, with more than 300 animals roaming the nearby countryside.

A 90-minute safari takes guests to the lodge and provides up-close encounters with endangered species along the way including black rhino, giraffes, ostrich, and blackbuck.

After an early morning safari drive and breakfast, guests are returned to the main park to continue their day exploring other animals such as tigers, snow and clouded leopards, red pandas, howler monkeys, elephants and mountain and forest gorillas.
