A case study of moral neglect in the Egyptian sports establishment

Review of Business Research, July, 2007 by Samir M. Youssef

CONCLUSION

Establishing a linkage between values, intentions, actions and consequences is the major preoccupation of management in both private and governmental organizations. There is often discrepancy in establishing this linkage due to cultural, personality and organizational issues. Improving the organizational system in terms of clarifying tasks, assigning roles and coordinating between different roles are essential prerequisites for members of the organization to establish the linkage. Clarifying these issues in addition to a culture of integrity and a system of checks and balances should help in this regard. However, these do not totally eliminate the potential of discrepancy due to the existence of cognitive limitations and character deficiencies in the persons in charge. Nevertheless, cases of failure to achieve tasks of national importance can not be labeled immoral unless organizational deficiencies are rectified.
