Some groups are calling for stricter regulation of aircraft repair facilities abroad and for airlines to increase their reliance on in-house mechanics. Curtiss-Wright

Curtiss-Wright Controls reached a $16 million multiyear deal with Saab Aerostructures to provide the large cargo door mechanical system for the 787. Features include flight-critical subassemblies such as the lift, pull-in, latching, locking and vent systems. Production will take place at CWC's facility in Shelby, N.C. Feb 14, 2008

GKN Aerospace, CAAC, Airbus, Boeing

GKN Aerospace said CAAC extended its MOC covering MRO of various engine fan blades and components for Airbus and Boeing aircraft until Dec. 31, 2009. MOC validates maintenance operation compliance with CAAR part 145. Feb 15, 2008

Iberia, Iberworld, Airbus

Iberia won three contracts with Iberworld for aircraft maintenance and logistical support services to be conducted at its shops in Madrid. Slated to begin this month and continue to December 2009, the first contract covers inspections and maintenance as well as disassembly and assembly of 10 CFM56-5Bs powering Airbus A320s. The second calls for Iberia Maintenance to service Iberworld aircraft components. The third contract entails complete maintenance of Iberworld's Airbus aircraft including overhauls, structural and interior inspections and modifications. Feb 13, 2008

Rolls-Royce, Singapore Airlines, Airbus

Rolls-Royce announced that Singapore Airlines ordered Trent 900s for nine additional Airbus A380s along with an accompanying TotalCare services agreement. Singapore Air already had ordered the powerplant for its original 10 aircraft, two of which have entered service. Financial terms were not disclosed. Feb 15, 2008

Singapore Airlines, Boeing, JADE

JADE won US FAA STC authority under the Singapore-US Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement for cabin interior reconfiguration modification on Singapore Airlines Boeing 747s. SIA, SIA Engineering and Singapore Jamco participated in JADE's application. This is the first STC granted under the Singapore-US BASA. Feb 15, 2008

STAR Capital Partners, Oxford Aviation Academy

STAR Capital Partners combined its flight training organizations under the Oxford Aviation Academy name. Oxford predecessor companies are GCAT Flight Academy (formed through the combination of GE Commercial Aviation Training and SAS Flight Academy), Oxford Aviation Academy and BAE Systems Training. Oxford operates 10 training centers in Europe, Asia and North America. Feb 11, 2008

VEM, Aerolineas Sudamericanas, Boeing

VEM was contracted by Aerolineas Sudamericanas to provide corrosion prevention and control program services for Boeing 727s. Turnaround time (TAT) on the first 727 was under eight days. Feb 11, 2008
