Amerer Air, BAE Systems

Amerer Air, a cargo carrier based in Linz, will be the first customer for the re-launched BAe 146QT freighter program, BAE Systems Regional Aircraft announced. Amerer will purchase the aircraft and operate it on behalf of major integrators as well as on ad hoc charter flights. Aircraft recently completed its first freighter flight to Southend and now is undergoing final maintenance checks before delivery. Amerer is privately held and currently operates one F27-500. 7/7/2008

Austrian Airlines

Austrian Airlines yesterday reached agreement with AeroLogic, the Lufthansa/DHL cargo joint venture, to train its pilots for type ratings for the Boeing 777-200F. 7/7/2008

Aviapartner Cargo, Turkish Airlines

Aviapartner Cargo signed a contract with Turkish Airlines to provide cargo handling services covering 14 airports, including online and offline stations across France, as well as trucking distribution. Effective July 21, contract includes warehousing, ULD buildup and breakdown, inventory management, documentation, customs clearance, tracing and dangerous goods control. 7/18/2008

LAN Cargo

LAN Cargo was approved by the Colombian government to launch an affiliate cargo airline there with plans to initiate services in the first quarter of 2009. Noting that Colombia is "the largest air cargo market in Latin America in terms of exports to the US," LAN earlier this year applied for the right to launch a new airline. It said yesterday that the carrier will provide airfreight services between Colombia and the US using an undisclosed number of 767-300 freighters. It said it will add two new 777 freighters to the fleet next year. Flights to other Latin American destinations are possible. LAN estimated that Colombia exports 200,000 tons of air cargo annually to the US. The Colombian affiliate will be managed by Colombian executives and staffed with technicians from that nation, LAN said. It has not been named. 7/7/2008

Lufthansa Cargo

Lufthansa Cargo plans to raise fuel surcharges imposed on customers to EUR1.30 per kilo from 1.25 from July 21, it said on Tuesday. Oil prices hit a record USD$146 per barrel last week. 7/9/2008

MK Airlines, Freight Feeder Aircraft

MK Airlines and Freight Feeder Aircraft Corp. signed a letter of intent for the purchase of 10 FF5000 Freight Feeder Aircraft plus five options, the companies announced in a joint statement. Officials of both Freight Feeder and MK, the UK-based carrier that suspended operations last month but re-launched shortly afterward after securing new funding, plan to meet within the year to complete final negotiations. Purchase order will become finalized upon "first flight" of the FF5000 prototype currently under construction and scheduled for completion next spring. 7/7/2008

MNG Airlines, Airbus

MNG Airlines, the Istanbul-based cargo carrier, purchased an Airbus A300-600F from Air Atlanta Icelandic. Aircraft will join MNG's fleet at the end of this month. It currently operates eight A300-200Fs and five F27Fs. 7/9/2008
