Airbus

Qatar Airways said on Wednesday it planned to hold a joint news conference with Airbus at Farnborough, raising expectations of a new plane order at the air show. Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways could also help to sustain Middle East demand at Farnborough but analysts say airliner manufacturers are facing an overall drop in orders due to high oil prices and defence firms bracing for slower spending growth. 7/13/2008

EgyptAir

EgyptAir has expanded its fleet from 32 aircraft in 2003 to 50 today and plans to operate up to 75 by 2011. Three new 737-800s will be added this year with another five of the type slated to arrive in early 2009. It will double its E-170 fleet to 12 next year as well. Eight 777-300ERs will be delivered between 2010 and 2012. It expects to carry 7.8 million passengers this year and hopes to grow the figure to 11 million by 2011. 7/10/2008

Kenya Airways

Kenya Airways, one of Africa's leading carriers, is recovering from the loss of a Boeing 737-800, which crashed in Cameroon last year. It was also hit hard by post-election violence in Kenya earlier this year, which damaged the tourism sector. 7/16/2008
