Air India, Boeing
Air India's newest Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) airplane arrived Saturday in Farnborough, England, ahead of Monday's opening of the Farnborough International Air Show. The 777-300ER will be on display during the air show highlighting its new livery, interior and passenger amenities. The 777-300ER is the 10th 777 delivered to Air India from its December 2005 order of 68 Boeing jetliners. The aircraft, named "Jammu and Kashmir" in keeping with Air India's tradition of naming its 777s after the various states of India, has a three-class configuration, including four first-class, 35 executive class and 303 economy seats. The airline will operate the 777-300ER on its India to United States via London route. 7/14/2008
All Nippon Airways, Airbus
All Nippon Airways confirmed that it has not yet decided to order the A380 as widely reported late last week and in fact has not even issued an RFP. A spokesperson told this website that the airline set up a New Aircraft Selection Committee last week to examine both the A380 and the 747-8. "No RFPs have gone out yet," the spokesperson said, adding that ANA will decide among the 747-8, the A380 or continuing to build its long-haul fleet around the 777-300ER. 7/8/2008

All Nippon Airways will install Airline Partners Boeing blended winglets on its 16 767-300ERs beginning April 1, 2009, as part of a three-year plan to cut CO2 emissions. ANA expects to increase efficiency 5% and save 2,100 tonnes of CO2 per year per aircraft. 7/15/2008
Singapore Airlines, Airbus
Singapore Airlines CEO Chew Choon Seng said last week that Singapore's five A380s are flying very reliably. "But the most important thing for us is the aircraft is very popular with our passengers. Overall A380 load factor on scheduled flights has risen up to 90%," he said. Chew said the aircraft has enabled Singapore to increase capacity on certain routes for the first time in 10 years. It had not had been able to do so operating 747-400s. The A380 flies from Singapore to London Heathrow, Sydney and Tokyo Narita and will serve Beijing during the lead-up to next month's Summer Olympics. Singapore plans to phase out its last 747-400 by 2011 and possibly 2010. It currently operates 101 aircraft and has 14 A380s, 20 A350s and 20 787-9s in the delivery pipeline. 7/17/2008
