DayJet

Very Light Jet air taxi operator DayJet Corp. last week signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Aviation Administration to collaborate on a project that would accelerate use of next generation air traffic control technologies. The agreement forms a partnership between DayJet, FAA, the Florida Department of Transportation Aviation Office and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to phase in the technologies over the next five years. The partnership wants to develop procedures that could be used on a national scale to deploy NextGen. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters in March announced that Florida would serve as the national test bed for NextGen. DayJet's involvement will help expand use of the technologies to small community airports, the company said. DayJet's participation comes as the company has made a strategic decision to focus on operational efficiencies rather that rapid expansion to reach profitability for its start-up on-demand per-seat service.
