More defense firms in Europe are expected to target U.S. suppliers for acquisitions as part of an effort to increase their presence in the U.S. Analysts also predict more acquisitions among larger U.S. defense firms as suppliers consolidate. Jun 26, 2008

A group of Mississippi business representatives still plan to travel to the U.K. to court international aerospace suppliers, despite delays surround a contract to build refueling tankers. The contract was awarded to a team led by Northrop Grumman, but last week the Government Accountability Office granted Boeing's appeal. Caribbean Airlines, Boeing

Boeing reached agreement with Caribbean Airlines to manage spare parts and components inventory under its Component Services Program. Contract guarantees replacements for failed parts within 24 hr. and is expected to reduce inventory, repair and administrative costs. Jun 27, 2008

Condor Technik, Condor Airlines, Boeing

Condor Technik will launch line maintenance operations on Condor Airlines' Boeing 757s in November and on its nine 767-300s and 13 757-300s next spring. Staffing is expected to reach 170 by next year. Jun 24, 2008

Flow International, Airbus

Flow International signed a multimillion-dollar contract with Airbus to manufacture and install multiple Composite Machining Center abrasive waterjet and routing machine tool systems for A350s. CMC systems will be used to cut wings, fuselage, wing spars, keel beam and other parts. Jun 27, 2008

Focus Aviation, KLM, Fokker

Focus Aviation reached agreement with KLM to provide marketing services for the sale of 15 Fokker F100s. Manufactured in 1989, aircraft are operated by KLM Cityhopper. Jun 24, 2008

Lufthansa Systems will provide its NetLine technology to Braathens Aviation subsidiaries Transwede Airways and Malmo Aviation under a five-year deal. Technology is expected to accelerate fleet and crew planning processes and boost revenue. Jun 26, 2008

In what is being called one of the most exciting developments in commercial aviation in years, Pratt & Whitney has designed an innovative jet engine that could be less polluting and cheaper to use than any other jet engine.
