EasyCruise said its new EasyCruise Life, its second and bigger ship, has delayed its first sailing until May 17. The company said the vessel, which has been undergoing major refurbishment in Greece since November, was delayed due to "major industrial action over the last few months affecting shipyard workers in Greece relating to the government's reform of the pension plan." EasyCruise has apologized to its customers and has offered compensation and alternatives to those who booked earlier departures. The ship was to start cruising this month. The ship's public areas -- restaurant, lounge, bar, pool, spa and hot tubs -- were showcased during a charity event in Athens on the April 17. The event raised A113,000 for a Greek charity for disabled children. On April 26, the ship was in position in Piraeus, and booked passengers were invited onboard for a guided tour and dinner, and possible overnight accommodation, before departing on their alternative holiday options. Ryanair and easyJet have reacted angrily once again to the Civil Aviation Authority[sup.1]s (CAA) price cap proposals for Stansted Airport, which it handed in to the Competition Commission. Since its January consultation document, the regulator says it has added a sixth option identified by airlines in their responses[sup.1] for charges at the airport for the five year period from 1 April 2009. The different caps could involve a doubling of passenger charges in that period. The Competition Commission[sup.1]s own market inquiry into BAA[sup.1]s operation of airports could affect the choice of option. Apr 30, 2008
