Dassault Aviation

Dassault Aviation had a mixed first half, with orders, sales and profits all falling short of their levels from the same period last year while the Falcon business jets unit made solid headway. During a first half marked by the launch of the winglet-equipped Falcon 900LX, which replaces the 900EX, Falcon sales were up 6.8% to [euro]1.1 billion ($1.6 billion), deliveries rose to 34 units from 29 last time, and orders held steady at 87 units, including 23 to NetJets, though order value fell 23.8% to [euro]1.89 billion. In defense, sales fell 42% to [euro]440 million, while orders during the period edged up marginally to [euro]560 million. Overall, the company saw net profit fall 9.2% to [euro]167 million on sales down 14% at [euro]1.54 billion. The order book increased during the half 5.7% to [euro]15.84 billion. Sep 1, 2008

LOT Polish Airlines, Boeing

LOT Polish Airlines may not exercise its option to buy six Boeing 787 planes from Boeing as it battles financial woes, newspaper Dziennik reported on Friday giving no sources. LOT has an option to buy six long-haul Dreamliners between 2012 and 2019 and could save up to USD$180 million by selling it, the daily said. The Polish carrier, which last month warned it needed immediate restructuring to avoid a possible cash crunch, will stick to another USD$1.6 billion contract to buy eight 787s due for delivery in 2009-2011, the newspaper said. A LOT spokesman declined to comment. Sep 5, 2008

SkyEurope Airlines, Boeing

SkyEurope Airlines is adjusting its fleet-expansion plans, again with a capacity reduction that will give it 26 aircraft by 2013. SkyEurope ordered up to 32 Boeing 737-700s three years ago, but has been hacking back its commitment - first to 30 aircraft by 2011, then to 28 by 2012. Fifteen of these aircraft have been delivered. In a third-quarter financial update last week, the carrier said it has firmed two of its five outstanding options, giving it 10 outstanding firmly ordered aircraft and three options. It will return two aircraft leased from GE Commercial Aviation Services and replace them with new aircraft. Sep 1, 2008
