Opening Up New Chances To You
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), July 3, 2004
The Open University has more than three decades' experience of making its courses accessible to all and boasts almost 8,000 students nationally with disabilities.
Its unique system of home-based study, combining supported open learning with a wide range of multimedia materials, makes it particularly accessible to disabled students.
For many students, now also entitled to Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA), they can receive additional support such as specialised equipment or travel allowances.
Disabled students are also provided with support, back-up and counselling services by the OU's regional centre in Newcastle, including audiocassette versions of print materials and special examination arrangements.
The OU offers hundreds of courses in most subject areas. If you would like more information, call (0191) 284 1611 or visit www.open.ac.uk.
