Check out the traffic online
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Oct 28, 2004
Fed-up motorists sick of sitting in traffic around Newcastle are being offered a lifeline from the comfort of their desk.
A team of computer experts is giving drivers the chance to check out traffic jams via a new webcam before setting off on their journey.
Staff at Perfect Image were looking out of their new office window on the top floor of the Newcastle Technopole, which has a bird's eye view of the southbound approach to Swan House roundabout.
Amazed at the volume of traffic going over the bridge ( estimated at around 70,000 vehicles a day ( they decided to stick a real-time webcam, at www.perfect-image.co.uk, on the side of the building offering an up-to-the-minute picture of the Tyne Bridge approach.
