whitley draw so Darling!

Whitley Bay have been drawn against Darlington in the first qualifying round of this years FA Women's Cup sponsored by EON.

The big guns such as Arsenal, Everton, Leeds, Newcastle and Sunderland enter the competition in the later stages.

However, Whitley must battle through qualifying rounds for the chance of a glamour tie.

Team manager Colin Phillips said: "It is a step into the unknown for us but at least it is a home tie."

The game will be played at Hillheads on Sunday, September 24 (2pm).

Meanwhile, Bay have signed Wallsend-born striker Laura Darmody from Chester-le-Street Ladies.

NNEWCASTLE United's Ruth Sutcliffe and Sunderland's Helen Alderson and Demi Stocks have been included in the England women's under-18 squad for a training camp at Warwick University from August 13-17.

NNEWCASTLE United kick off their FA Women's Premier League Reserves Section programme with a trip to Everton on Sunday, August 20 (2pm).

That is followed by a derby at Sunderland a week later before United open their home matches against Leeds United at Bullocksteads, Kenton Bank Foot, on Sunday, September 3 (2pm).

NKESTRELS returned to the top of the Whitfield Ladies League with a 4-1 victory over Divas.

Newcastle United's Melanie Reay, Emma Redhead and Donna Lanaghan netted for Kestrels, Anna Huntingdon scoring Divas' consolation.

Almost Athletic and Club Class fought out a 3-3 draw, Catherine Chapman bagging a brace for CC, while a Pam Dixon hat-trick was the highlight of Cleveland Hall's victory over EDF.

NTHE Durham County Women's League, which plays on Sundays, is looking for new teams for the 2006/2007 season.

Players must be 15 years old or over on or before August 31.
