Bbc weather presenter Trai Anfield, pictured, will be opening a coastal fun day.

The Cullercoats and Whitley Bay Ladies' Lifeboat Guild hold their annual Harbour Day on July 22.

Activities include a sand castle competition, face painting, assault course and penalty kicks. Music is by The Perdido Street Jazzman.

Refreshments will include kipper sandwiches, hot dogs, meat sandwiches, tea, coffee and cream scones.

There will also be stalls for books, tombola, cakes, bric-a-brac, fresh fish, souvenirs, jewellery and a raffle.

A spokesman said: "It will be an enjoyable day for the whole family with the added bonus of raising funds to save lives."
