Our licence money is being wasted

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), June 28, 2006

John O'Rourke is right to complain. Just who allows the BBC to waste so much of our licence money?

Jonathan Ross is a great example of the obscene waste of money, but perhaps even more glaring is that lavished on those involved with the World Cup.

Goodness knows how many reporters and experts the BBC has out there. The main games have three ex-players involved in the brief chit-chat about each game, plus a different host each time, it seems. Then there are the other people who have to do the interviewing, extra co-commentators at each game and a host of celebrities who will be paid too. No wonder Gary Lineker, pictured, & Co are always laughing among themselves. It's about time someone put a stop to the Beeb's wastefulness.
