Sporty names join forces

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), April 6, 2007

Some legendary names in the world of motor sport have joined forces to provide a special track experience for enthusiasts.

Prodrive, Subaru and Aston Martin have linked up with the famous Goodwood circuit and its rally stage facility to offer drives in a works-prepared Prodrive Aston Martin and rally-specification Subaru Impreza cars.

Goodwood's links with racing Aston Martins date back over 50 years, including most famously the 1959 Goodwood Tourist Trophy, when Sir Stirling Moss won against the odds in his DBR1.

The Prodrive at Goodwood Aston Martin and Rally Stage experience is available strictly to corporate customers and for between 15 and 20 guests only.

In the saddle

Land Rover has become the official vehicle supplier to the British three-day equestrian eventing team.

World Championship team silver medallists William Fox-Pitt and Daisy Dick join fellow team member and individual gold medallist Zara Phillips, along with other squad members Sharon Hunt and Oliver Townend in, each receiving the keys to a Land Rover Discovery 3.

The company is title sponsor to the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and also a long-term supporter of world champion Zara Phillips, daughter of the Princess Royal.

Bikes up for sale

A selection of more than 40 motorcycles once owned by the late bike racer Don Leeson is coming up for sale at auction.

The collection will be sold at the next H&H event taking place on May 12 at Kempton Park race course.

Leeson was a founder member of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club and an avid collector of Suzuki motorcycles. He was killed racing in the Isle of Man two years ago. His personal collection of some 40 machines which are up for sale include a variety of Suzukis from 1960 to early 1970. Most are road models, but there are racing machines.
