Get set for Blast Truck

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), August 29, 2007

TYNESIDE teens will be in for a treat next week when the BBC Blast truck parks up in the region.

Young people aged between 14 and 19 who are passionate about art, music, film-making, dance are invited a series of free workshops when the Truck pulls up in Newcastle's Centre For Life this Friday.

The roadshow will give people the chance to meet industry professionals, learn new skills, share ideas and use the latest technology to get creative - whatever their ability.

The roadshow arrives on Friday August 31 and the next three days include a question and answer session with Ross Millard of The Futureheads; the chance to become a journalist for the day, and dance competitions.

Clara Raven, Blast coordinator said: "Blast's aim is simple: to encourage young people to express themselves through creativity.

"We've got some great workshops lined up and it's a brilliant opportunity to develop new skills, work with experts and showcase your work."

Workshops run from 11am until 7pm on Friday and Saturday and end on Sunday at 2.30pm.
