Kidnapping rescue bid

An operation is under way today to rescue five Britons feared kidnapped in a remote part of Ethiopia.
The Foreign Office confirmed the group included members of staff from the UK embassy in Addis Ababa or relatives of staff.
The Britons are thought to be part of a group of Western tourists who disappeared while on a trip to look at geological sites north of Addis Ababa.
Petrol finding
TESTS appear to have identified what caused thousands of cars to break down but motorists are today no closer to knowing who is to blame.
Two major supermarkets, Tesco and Morrisons, have withdrawn unleaded petrol from some of their outlets, after tests confirmed silicon has been found in fuel.
Tornado visit
US President George Bush will tomorrow visit areas hit by a tornadoes that have killed at least 20 people in several American states, including eight students at an Alabama high school.
Airbus blow
THE Airbus superjumbo programme suffered a major new setback today as air freight company UPS said it would cancel its order for 10 A380s, leaving the aircraft maker with an empty order book for the cargo version of its much-delayed flagship.
Rail operation
THE operation to clear a major rail route blocked by a derailment is expected to last well into next week. Engineers were today continuing removing the Virgin train carriages which came off the tracks in the fatal Cumbria accident.
BBC story ban
THE BBC has been banned from broadcasting a story about the cash-for-honours inquiry after it was issued with an injunction by the Attorney General. The move was in response to a request from the Metropolitan Police, who are investigating claims peerages were offered in return for financial support.
