Advertisement Feature - Your new-look indoor market
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), May 23, 2007
It's fresh, it's new, it's modern ( it's the Green Market at High Friars.
Around pounds 1m has been spent refurbishing the new market.
With entrances from High Friars and Nelson Street, the market has 15 shop units on two floors.
The market has been designed with a mix of vibrant and neutral colours to create a fresh, modern feel.
It's the perfect place to indulge yourself in some retail therapy or have a relaxing lunch with your friends.
Four former tenants from the old Greenmarket in Eldon Square have moved in to the Green Market at High Friars and have been joined by a mix of new local traders.
Stalls sell everything from greetings cards to ice cream to hand made soaps. Also on offer are mobile phones, fashion jewellery, ethnic clothing and designer menswear.
The new Green Market at High Friars replaces the old Greenmarket in Eldon Square.
It is due to be demolished to make way for the construction of a new Debenhams store and a range of smaller shops.
Paula Bashforth, markets manager, said: "With a location right next to MK One and New Look, the Green Market at High Friars is in a prime location to attract young shoppers and, as such, has moved away from the more traditional market uses of the former Greenmarket.
"Of course the more traditional goods, the fish market and the popular plant stalls, can still be found in the Grainger Market across the street."
