ON 19th April Yr 4, 5 and 6 took part in a K'nex challenge in their school. As part of the Young Engineers Project.

They were given a box of K'nex and were put into pairs.

Then they got told what they needed to design. They had to design and build a base with a working cam that rotated. They designed fairground rides. Mr Geoff Clack and Mr Leslie Brown held a small competition and chose 4 winners from each class.

Then 2 children were chosen to go to the regional finals at Sunderland University, they were Lucy Adams and Matthew Spry. On 20th June they went to Sunderland and designed a Robin Hood based theme tower with a lift using a cam. Overall they came 3rd out of 7 schools from the North East.

Matthew Spry said: "I think we did very well and I am looking forward to the next event".

Lucy Adams said that she really enjoyed it and can't wait for the finals.
