AA to get 300 vans

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Sept 21, 2007

FORD and the AA, the UK's largest roadside assistance organisation, have strengthened their partnership with the announcement that 300 new Ford Transits will be used by patrols across the country.

The medium wheelbase vans will be used by AA patrols to provide roadside assistance to drivers.

About 90% of stranded motorists' vehicles are fixed at the roadside by the patrols.

EATING and drinking are the most frequent dangerous driving habits, according to Sainsbury's Car Insurance, with 41 per cent of motorists questioned admitting 'offending' during July.

This is followed by driving while feeling tired, driving wearing flip flops or barefoot and speeding.

Despite it now being illegal to use a non-hands-free mobile phone while driving, 14 per cent of motorists surveyed said that they did and almost a tenth admitted to sending text messages from behind the wheel.
