Your cash will help save lives

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), April 28, 2008

RED Cross Appeal Week runs from May 4 to May 10 with events all over the country.

The appeal seeks to raise funds to support British Red Cross projects both at home or abroad and last year's effort raised over pounds 800,000.

All projects bring help to people vulnerable in a crisis - such as those in the UK whose lives are disrupted by fire or flooding, people who have no-one to look after them when discharged from hospital, or those affected by disasters overseas.

Last year the Red Cross also helped to trace over 420 people who had been separated by natural disasters and conflict and delivered Red Cross Messages between loved ones.

In the UK it helped over 356,000 people to regain their confidence after a personal crisis through our independent living and community equipment services, making a difference to the quality of their daily lives.

To donate or take part visit the Red Cross website www.redcross.org.uk/ appealweek or call 0845 054 7171. The Red Cross delivers first aid training, skin camouflage sessions to people who suffer disfigurement, tracing and messaging service for missing people and young people's services.
