Cars ablaze

TWO motorists had their cars set alight in separate incidents today.
One was a Honda Civic parked outside of the owner's home in Lister Avenue, Dunston, Gateshead, around midnight.
Fire crews were then called to a Fiat Punto set alight at the owner's home in Chester Gardens, Crawcrook, Gateshead.
A window was broken in the Honda and an accelerant poured on to the back seat and set alight.
The owner saw the fire and using a dry powder extinguisher put it out.
It is believed someone tried to steal the Fiat Punto and tossed an accelerant inside and set it alight.
The engine compartment and rear of the car were damaged.
