Rival model costs less

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Feb 1, 2008

RENAULT is responding to the arrival of the Fiat 500 with an entry-level version of its rival Twingo model for pounds 400 less.

Taking the name of Twingo Extreme, it costs pounds 7,500 and is based on the Twingo Dynamique model but gets even more equipment.

This adds sports body styling, black internally adjustable door mirrors, a one-piece folding rear seat, CD sound system with fingertip control, front fog lights, electric front windows, rev counter and special alloy wheel trims.

There is the option of an integrated Bluetooth hands-free telephone system plus a connection point in the glove box for MP3 players.

The cars can be personalised with other options such as Union Jack door handle graphics for pounds 45 and wing badges at pounds 15.

Cross of St George wing badges are also on offer at pounds 15.

White or black racing stripes are pounds 80, as are chequered flag door graphics.
