BANK of England Governor Mervyn King faced a fresh grilling from MPs today in the aftermath of the Northern Rock affair. The Commons Treasury Committee launched a new inquiry after Chancellor Alistair Darling announced measures to increase Government protection offered to depositors in the event of a bank collapse from pounds 35,000 to pounds 50,000.
