Wheelchair parasail bid
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), July 26, 2008
A DISABLED man will attempt a record breaking parasail to raise money for a cancer charity.
Wheelchair user Steve Wilkinson, who was diagnosed with spina bifida as a child, will take the skies today to raise pounds 5,000 for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
Once strapped into a customised parachute, the 55-year-old will be elevated to 200ft and towed eight miles by a power boat from the Humber Bridge to Paull in East Yorkshire.
Newcastle-born Steve said: "I hope this sends out a positive message to everyone about what they can accomplish."
