A MUM has been promoted to office manager after a firm's restructure.
Sandra Watson, of Annfield Plain, near Stanley, has been appointed to the position within Meldrum Construction and says she is delighted with the news.
Ms Watson, who has one son, Ben, has been with the company for two years but has held previous administration-type roles at other companies including Northern Rock.
Today her duties include coordinating a team of more than 80 people as well as ensuring that all paperwork, invoicing, payroll and client liaison is kept up to date.
Sandra said: "I enjoy working in the construction business and although it is supposed to be a man's world, without a strong team of office-based staff the company wouldn't operate as well as it does.
"We focus heavily on communication and customer care in our service, as it is not enough just be good on site and deliver top-quality construction solutions.
"As well as offering every service, from design, planning, fit-out and build, it is important to Meldrum Construction that we also offer a seamless service and the team in the office have a big role to play in that."
Sandra now heads up a team of four administration staff, all based at the headquarters in Birtley.
Managing director David Meldrum said: "Anyone who runs a company is well aware of the competitive world we are in, and when you spot good staff you have to nurture them and reward them for their efforts.
"From day one Sandra has shined as someone who I want in my company for a long time and I am delighted to finally give her the role she really deserves."
