Team climb to the top of the Hill! Northumberland Under-18 Lg

BENWELL HILL continue to set the pace at the top of the First Division after a 46-run win at home to Backworth.

After a shaky start, the home side reached 131, mainly due to an impressive innings of 71 from 16-year-old Mohsin Shafiq. Backworth never got going in reply, and ended up on 85-6 after their 20 overs.

South North remained in contention after winning a close clash against Tynedale at Hexham. South North batted first and scored 132-7, 16-year-old John Harbottle leading the way with 56.

Liam Pringle was the leading bowler for Tynedale, taking 4-19 in five overs.

In reply, the home side finished just two runs short despite 38 from Ben Archer, with John Hutton taking 3-22.

Newcastle City made 79-7 in 20 overs against Tynemouth, who in reply were restricted to 70-9.

Jaskiron Singh claimed 3-8 and Sachin Brar and Jaspreet Singh took two wickets each.

Cramlington defeated Seaton Burn in the final over and are now favourites to win the second division championship.
