Dive in and get active

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), March 14, 2008

CHILDREN are invited to join a variety of aquatic taster sessions at a sports and leisure centre.

The Lakeside Centre in Killingworth is providing an opportunity for children of all ages to get active and try out a new activity.

Activities available include rookie lifeguard sessions, synchronised swimming, diving, water polo and junior aqua aerobics.

There are sessions suitable for younger children aged over five who are confident in the water and older children who have already learned to swim.

Swimming co-ordinator Geoff Wade said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for children to try something new and fun.

"These sessions offer something a bit different from normal swimming lessons and will hopefully encourage youngsters to continue their involvement in aquatic sports and activities once they have learned to swim."

Places can be booked by ringing (0191) 643 2820.
