Home Comfort

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), March 17, 2008

DRAMATIC changes are on the way for thousands of former council house tenants.

After months of preparation, Wansbeck Homes has taken over all 5,300 council houses unlocking the door to pounds 80m of improvements and tenant support services over the next five years.

The official launch of Wansbeck Homes was carried out by Junior Housing Minister Ian Wright.

Improvements already planned for tenants include a better repairs service, installing double glazing, new windows and doors to at least 4,000 homes, fitting up to 2,500 new kitchens and about 2,500 new bathrooms and upgrading the heating system.
