DVD is launched
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), March 31, 2008
PARALYMPICS gold medallist Stephen Miller has helped launch a new DVD designed to boost communication skills among young people with special needs.
He teamed up with Facilitating Inclusion North East (FINE) to promote a DVD about alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
The DVD, produced by Film Nova, shows examples of AAC in use.
Lynn Fletcher, regional facilitator for the FINE Partnership, said: "AAC supports children with little or no speech."
Stephen Miller, 28, from Cramlington, who was born with cerebral palsy, got an ovation from some of the nation's sporting heroes earlier this month when he gave a speech at Windsor Castle.
