Letter: Your Shout - Where was police chopper?
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), May 28, 2008
Byline: AP
I WOULD like to comment on the tragic death of the 16-year-old girl who was knocked over by a police car in Newcastle's West End.
I think the letter in Thursday's Chronicle was cold-hearted and out of order. I also believe this is yet another case where the police got it wrong.
Where was the police helicopter while this was going on? Probably on Teesside or in Durham!
All this at a time when Northumbria Police want to do away with one of the region's helicopters to save money. Never mind saving money, what about saving lives?
Is there any wonder that the public has lost confidence and respect in our police?
The police are their own worst enemy.
All they are interested in is hitting targets so they go for the easy soft targets and are never around when you need them.
