FORD'S Focus ST may be the fastest model in the line-up, but it has only just caught up with the rest of the latest Focus range.
Thankfully, the wait has been worth it as the sporty ST version now gets the exterior and interior changes that were introduced on lesser versions earlier this year.
What differentiates the ST from the others is its five-cylinder, Volvodeveloped 2.5-litre, turbocharged engine that endows the relatively small Focus with 225bhp to enable it to zoom from rest to 60mph in just over six and a half seconds with a top speed of 150mph.
Electronic stability programme and traction control are standard, as are 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, sports styling, Recaro sports seats, a unique sports steering wheel and upgraded instrumentation.
New to this generation of ST are a starter button and Easyfuel capless refuelling system.
Upgrading to ST-2 adds a Sony audio system, bi-xenon lights, LED rear lights and heated windscreen while the ST-3 includes a six-CD player plus full leather trim.
Options include a tyre deflation detection system, a new audio connectivity module for external devices such as Bluetooth, voice control and navigation systems plus various infotainment options including sat nav with an SD card slot.
Prices range from pounds 18,250 to pounds 20,850.
