Shirts up for grabs
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Nov 12, 2008
BIDDING is under way for shirts featuring poppies on the chest, worn by Sunderland players.
Fans have until November 21 to bid for the tops unveiled at last Saturday's game against Portsmouth.
The jerseys, signed by the players, are being auctioned on the official website, safc.com, to raise funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Fund and the Sunderland AFC Foundation. Sgt John Stephenson, of the Royal Signals, said: "Sunderland have been amazing in their support for those British Forces personnel who have been injured in conflicts."
