Two arrested over fatal road smash
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Oct 1, 2008
TWO people have been arrested after a five-car pile-up left a man dead.
Dale Kindley, 44, of Myrtle Street, Ashington, died after he was at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza car when it was involved in the smash on a town road in Northumberland.
The crash happened at 3.10am on Sunday morning last week on the A1174 road, which runs through a residential area of Stakeford, with West Terrace on one side and East Terrace on the other.
The Impreza driven by Mr Kindley and a BMW belonging to another local man crashed with a Ford Mondeo private hire taxi on the road.
Two unoccupied cars parked outside houses in the street were also damaged.
The BMW driver left the scene but was later arrested by police.
A woman, who was also in the BMW, has now also been arrested by police.
A Northumbria police spokesman said: "A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
"A 44-year-old man had already been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
"Both those arrested and bailed were occupants of the BMW."
Dale Kindley had to be cut from the wreckage of his car by firefighters from Ashington and Morpeth and was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington, where he died.
The taxi driver was also injured and treated at Wansbeck Hospital before being discharged.
