Promoting mental health
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Oct 10, 2008
A NATIONAL drive to raise awareness of the benefits of exercise on mental health was backed by a North East charity.
Norcare, which provides support to a range of vulnerable people in the region, participated in national Get Moving week, with staff, service users and volunteers taking part in a walk through Chopwell Woods near Gateshead.
The campaign has been organised with mental health charity, Mind, and aims to get people taking part in a variety of activities all over the country.
Angela Bell, team leader at Norcare's Terentia House project in County Durham, said: "We had a really great turn-out and even some of the young children of our service users came along on the walk.
"A whole variety of activities ranging from martial arts to cycling are taking place around the country as part of Get Moving week."
