AT the front of Jarrow Cross we have a lovely flower, fruit and vegetable garden. One year ago we received a grant from the Church of England and we used this money to create some raised flower beds to make it easier for our volunteer Mr Carlson, to work in the garden with the pupils.
We have many different types of flowers and we also grow carrots, onions, beetroot, tomatoes, celery, shallots and lots of fruit.
All of the children from Reception up to Year 6 like to help Mr Carlson and he said: "I enjoy working with the children very much and I hope next year we can plant even more varieties of vegetables in our garden."
Every year we use all the vegetables we grow to make vegetable soup for our harvest festival and the cook also uses them in our lunches. They taste delicious!
