Mealtime stress

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Oct 20, 2008

DAILY pressures and health warnings make mums feel they can't win at mealtimes, according to a new study.

The demands of 21st Century housekeeping have created a culture of worry and guilt among Britain's mums, according to research by Bernard Matthews Farms.

As economic circumstances combined with a bewildering bombardment of health messages, even the seemingly straightforward business of feeding the kids has become a minefield of self-recrimination for the nation's mothers.

The research shows nearly two thirds of mums are feeling the pressure to get it right.

As many as 62% confess to worrying they're not giving their children meals that are both tasty and nutritious, and four out of 10 say that never having as much time as they want to prepare meals is a major cause for concern.
