Stress claim
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Oct 6, 2008
A MAN has been awarded pounds 175,000 from a North East Care Trust after suffering a heart attack due to the stress he endured at work.
David Walker was employed by the Northumberland Care Trust between 1995 and November 2004. He worked as a team manager for the Younger Persons Physical Disability Team.
Mr Walker claimed the department was heavily under-staffed, forcing him to work up to 12-hour days and most of the weekend.
As a result of excessive workload he suffered severe stress and anxiety which culminated in him having a heart attack in November 2004. He was not able to return to work and had to take early retirement at the age of 60.
