Real Flood of goals; Carcraft Durham Alliance League

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England),  Oct 8, 2008

SIMONSIDE brushed aside Shildon in the League Challenge Cup with a comfortable 5-0 win.

A Shaun Flood hat-trick had Shildon reeling, then a goal for James Roberts on 41 minutes put the tie out of Shildon's reach.

Stewart Bond added a fifth on 60 minutes.

Whitehill were 5-1 home victors over Durham Garden House, thanks to a Paul Freeman double, and one apiece for Mark Peck, Kenny Ball and Michael Johnstone, Colin Young grabbing Garden House a late consolation.

Birtley Town Reserves ran out out 4-0 winners at home to Consett Reserves, a brace for debutant Paul Donnelly plus strikes from Neil Blue and Chris Guy doing the damage.

Ebchester are in the hat after an 8-0 demolition of Brandon Reserves, the highlight being four goals for Neil Swainson. Richard Parkin (2), Mark Watson and Stewart McKenna also scored.
