Letter: YOUR SHOUT - Battle of Britain remembered; SYDNEY GRAHAM

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Sept 12, 2008

ON SUNDAY, September 21, the Newcastle Branch of the RAF Association will mark the 68th anniversary of The Battle of Britain and the 90th anniversary of the Royal Air Force with a large commemorative event in the city.

Starting at noon there will be a service of thanksgiving in the Church of St Thomas in the Haymarket following which some 400 veterans, RAF service personnel and Air Cadets will march through the city, led by the band of the RAF Regiment. The Lord Mayor of Newcastle will take the salute on St Mary's Place and there will be a fly-past by an historic aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The event concludes with a buffet reception at St George's RFCA Centre. This commemoration is the largest event of its kind in the North East of England and all former members of the RAF, RAuxAF and WAAF are invited to attend.

SYDNEY GRAHAM, Chairman, Newcastle Branch.
