Man is killed in crash horror

A MAN died in hospital after a crash involving five cars The accident happened on the A1147 road between East and West Terrace, at Stakeford, Northumberland, in the early hours yesterday.
Two parked cars were also damaged in the smash.
The dead man, who was in his 40s, had been trapped in the wreckage of his Subaru car after the collision with a Ford Mondeo taxi and a BMW just after 3am.
The driver of the BMW left the scene and was later arrested by police.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said today that the arrested driver has been released on bail without charge.
The dead man's identity has not yet been released, but police confirmed that he is local to the crash area.
Fire engines from Morpeth and Ashington were called to the accident and had to cut the Subaru driver from his car in an operation that lasted just over half an hour.
