Parking fines
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Sept 22, 2008
HUNDREDS of motorists could have been wrongly fined for parking in loading bays.
South Tyneside Council has suspended the notices on all 45 of its loading bays while they are being reviewed and, where necessary, re-marked.
This follows advice from the Department for Transport that four bays in the Market Square and one at the western end of Smithy Street, next to Argos, do not conform to regulations.
The bays are 20cm too narrow.
Any driver who has been fined in these specific loading bays should get in touch with the Parking Team on (191)4247900 to have their cases reviewed
