Rooms give mum new view
Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Sept 25, 2008
A RECEPTIONIST has been appointed for The Newcastle Assembly Rooms.
Lynda Pygall brings a wealth of experience to the position, including three years at Proctor & Gamble in a similar role.
Lynda, who lives with her husband and daughters in Whitley Bay, is the first point of contact for most inquiries to the historic, 228-year-old function venue.
She said: "My main role is to answer any inquiries.
"There's a very friendly atmosphere here among the team and we all help out with whatever needs doing, from sending out brochures to showing potential clients around - once they've seen the facilities it's usually just a case of finding a suitable date.
"It's a fantastic opportunity to work at such a famous and beautiful building. I was incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm of the small team here, especially that of the owner, Antony Michaelides, and the feedback we receive from corporate and social events guests here makes it a very rewarding job.
"At the moment, we're gearing up for the busy Christmas period and, although I've never worked here during December, everyone tells me it's incredibly busy but great fun with different functions every day."
Dating back to 1776, The Assembly Rooms are one of Newcastle's oldest Georgian landmarks.
