Blackthorn rise to the Challenge; Morpeth Sunday League

BLACKTHORN Rovers made it through from the MKM Challenge Cup's preliminary round with a 7-3 win over North End Trap.
Craig Robinson grabbed a hattrick, Andrew Timson added two and Scott Collins and Brian Brodie nabbed the others for Rovers. Chris Godfrey (2) and David Goward replied for the Trap.
Pegswood Ex-Services joined Rovers in round one following their 3-2 win at Linton and Woodhorn SC, thanks to goals from Graham Younger (2) and Josh Gilmartin.
Alnmouth Argyle got their Division One campaign off to a winning start with a 6-2 success over Bedlington Northumberland Arms.
Andrew Sleeth and Joseph Bolam were on target for the Bedlington outfit, but strikes from Alan McFall, Andy Metcalfe, Liam Conroy, Alan Wallace and a brace from Jamie Black saw Argyle take the points. Lynemouth made it two wins from two games as a secondhalf effort from Marc Richardson was enough to secure a victory over Traveller's Rest, Choppington.
North Seaton Elephant and Stobhill Social Club met in both clubs' first league fixture of the season - and had to settle for a point each after a 2-2 draw.
Morpeth Waterford Lodge made a flying start in Division Two with a 12-1 hammering of neighbours Wansbeck Riverside SC.
Shaun Michalowicz netted the solitary strike for the Riverside, while John Farrell (6), Daniel Mowbray (2), William Dryden, Paul Jackson, Graham Vass and Lenny Lansbury all scored for Waterford.
Block and Tackle were also among the goals in a 7-2 win at Morpeth Chantry.
Bedlington Station enjoyed a 4-1 victory at home to Stobswood Welfare United.
Scott Marshall scored twice, and further finishes came from Chris Dobie and Andrew Young for the Station. Mark Sinclair scored for the visitors.
Goals from Darren Smith and Shaun Palmer saw East Chevington to a 2-1 triumph over Ellington.
Castington beat Guide Post Social Club 4-3 to collect their first win of the season.
Division Three saw a lot of goals, with Ashington Bubbles hitting 7-1 at Morpeth White Swan.
Jamie Graham bagged three, along with strikes from Lee Clark, Martin Clark, David Hepple and Alan Wright. Ian Slater bagged a consolation for the White Swan.
Bedlington Station Railway hit six without reply at Morpeth Black Bull.
David Cavigan (2), Chris Goulding, Darren Dodds, Jason Janczyk and Dan Smith were the men on target.
Felton recorded a 5-2 result over Base FC, Ashington. Craig Murray and Michael Todd scored for Base, while Felton registered through Gary Flynn, Tony Brown, Chris Fawcett, James Jackson and Robert Brown.
Bomarsund Social Club won by the same scoreline at home to Ashington Conchie.
Ross Muter led with a hat-trick, and he was joined on the scoresheet by David Drysdale and Nick Coffey.
Malcolm Sanderson and David Smith scored for the Conchie.
