Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), Jan 31, 2009

TRAVELLER'S Rest Choppington returned to the top of the table with a 5-2 win over Bedlington Northumberland Arms.

Jonathan Doyle and Paul McGlen netted for the Northumberland Arms, while Jonathan Young, Simon Kilpatrick and Damien Mullen - with a hat-trick - took the Travellers to the three points.

Josh Haye also bagged a hat-trick for Amble Pier 81, and he proved to be the major difference as they defeated Linton and Woodhorn SC 3-0.

Les Alderson and Neil Gittens both scored for Block and Tackle as they overcame East Chevington in Division Two. Cory Robinson replied for the visitors as the game ended 2-1.

Guide Post Social Club hosted Morpeth Chantry and won 3-2. Steven Wills, Graham Coates and Mark Taylor all netted for the home side.

Danny O'Connor bagged a brace for the Chantry, but could not stop his team slipping to defeat.

There were plenty of goals in Division Three, Felton top-scoring with a 12-1 rout of Chatton.

Luke Strangeways gained scant consolation for the home side as Jon Snaith (4), Tony Brown (2), Mark Cockburn (2), Stephen Dick, Kevin Elliott, Sean McKay and an own goal saw Felton home.

Bomarsund Social Club nabbed seven without reply at Morpeth White Swan after finishes from David Drysdale (2), Kris Grey, Adrian Grey, James Reynolds, Ryan Bell and an own goal.

Base FC took the Ashington derby with Hirst Industrial 6-1. Shaun Waylowski, Jamie Graham, Jamie Graham (2) and Carl Davison (2) did the damage for Base, with Dean Mason on target for Industrial.
