Sculpting from scrap

Evening Chronicle (Newcastle, England), June 19, 2009

BUILDING a sculpture from recycled rubbish will be one of the activities on offer at a green day.

Haven Holidays' Big Green Weekend takes place this weekend at Haggerston Castle Holiday Park.

Organisers hope local people will join holidaymakers and caravan owners to learn how to be more eco-friendly.

Green team leader Esther Ward said: "We have a year-round commitment to eco-endeavours - recycling, saving utilities and protecting our local environment." Activities will include a raft race, nature walks and an information caravan where people can get energy saving tips and advice.

All Haven Holidays 35 caravan parks hold the David Bellamy Conservation Award and 33 have reached the top gold status..
