Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Jan 5, 2005

Cumberworth father and son duo Paul and Mark Round (Mark is pictured below), produced a top performance in their to move up the standings in the Dakar Rally.

The pair covered the Agadir to Smara stage in 5hr 10min for a tremendous 69th spot, which moved them up almost 30 places from 98th to 69th overall.

The overall leader is now former world champion Colin McRae, who took over top spot after winning his second special stage on day five.

The Scot hit back after his Nissan suffered a puncture on Monday, when he dropped down to 10th overall.

The Nissan driver bounced back to augment his victory in Granada two days ago, flying to stage-four success with a six minutes and 15 second advantage over his teammate Giniel De Villiers - with Jutta Kleinschmidt third more than another minute behind.

McRae is therefore 5min28 sec ahead of de Villiers overall, with yesterday's fourth-placed driver Nasser Al Attiyah keeping hope alive for BMW.

American Robby Gordon had been setting the pace before yesterday. Title-holder Stephane Peterhansel was 24 minutes behind McRae after a series of punctures.
