`Flash' thief in Ferrari flop

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Jan 4, 2006

A SMARTLY-dressed thief failed in his bid to steal a high-powered sports car.

The man had phoned a car trader selling a Ferrari and agreed to meet him on Bradford Road in Cleckheaton for a test drive shortly before 7pm last night.

But the victim became suspicious when the prospective buyer tried to persuade him to get out of the car.

When he refused, the attacker punched him and tried to shove him out.

The victim fought back.

When he realised he had been thwarted, the would-be thief got out and fled.

The attempted carjacking happened near the Flexitallic company which manufactures industrial sealing products.

The attacker is Asian, in his mid 20s and very well spoken with an Irish lilt.

He is 6ft, thin, handsome with swept back hair which was short at the back and sides.

He wore a dark blue cotton or shiny silk sports jacket, dark blue or black trousers and black shoes.
